Christine Lambrecht has been Federal Minister of Defence since 8 December 2021. Before, she was Federal Minister of Justice and Consumer Protection from 2019 through 2021. In addition, she was Federal Minister for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth from May 2021 on. Lambrecht has studied law at Mannheim and Mainz universities.

Christine Lambrecht was born in Mannheim, Germany, on 19 June 1965.
1984 – 1992 Studied law at Mannheim and Mainz universities, first state examination in law
1992 – 1995 Legal internship at Darmstadt Regional Court, second state examination in law
1995 – 1996 Master of public administration, German University of Administrative Sciences Speyer
1995 – October 2021 Lawyer
1998 – 2021 Member of the German Bundestag
2009 – 2018 Various offices in the SPD parliamentary group and in the executive of the SPD parliamentary group
2018 – 2019 Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Finance
June 2019 – December 2021 Federal Minister of Justice and Consumer Protection
May 2021 – December 2021 Federal Minister for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth
